Behaviour Support Practitioner
Vanessa is a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner with a strong background in psychological science, disability, and mental health. She holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) from Deakin University.
With extensive experience in disability support, mental health, and training, Vanessa brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work. As a parent of a neurodivergent child, she deeply understands the challenges and strengths of individuals and families navigating behaviour support needs. Vanessa has worked in various roles, including disability support, therapeutic residential care, and mental health program facilitation, developing skills in behaviour assessment, skill-building, and tailored intervention strategies. In addition to her client work, Vanessa has contributed to workforce development as a Sessional Trainer and Assessor with genU, delivering training in mental health and disability to support the growth of professionals in the sector. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, and she values fostering meaningful relationships to create positive, lasting change. Vanessa is passionate about person-centred, neurodiversity-affirming, and trauma-informed support. She is committed to ongoing learning and holds additional certifications, including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116), Mental Health First Aid for Youth, and the Bringing Up Great Kids Parenting Program Trainer Certification. Vanessa works Monday to Wednesday and is able to support individuals of all ages across Geelong, Colac and surrounding areas. Vanessa has a particular interest in working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, up to 25 years of age, and their families. |
