Is my child too young to have Speech therapy?
Communication starts from when we are born so it is never too early to access speech pathology services. Your speech pathologist can guide you as to whether your child’s
presentation is age appropriate or if they would benefit from ongoing support.
presentation is age appropriate or if they would benefit from ongoing support.
Will my child grow out of their communication differences?
Some communication differences may resolve on their own however, we do not always know when they will resolve. We do know that evidence recommends that the earlier speech pathology services are accessed, the better the outcomes for the child. Therefore, it is best to seek access to speech pathology services when a concern arises. You can then speak to your speech pathologist about their recommendations.
What can I expect from speech pathology sessions?
Speech therapy focuses on working with the child or individual and their family to provide the tools to support the individual to achieve these goals. This means that individuals will achieve the best outcomes, if they follow up on sessions at home with the guidance of their speech pathologist.
